Uniformed Public Services Lecturer

Location: Bolton College
Contract: Temporary – anticipated opportunities for the 2026/27 academic year (subject to timetable confirmation)
Hours: Flexible teaching hours available
Start Date: September 2026 (subject to curriculum requirements)
Pay Rate: £28.00 – £32.00 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

About the Opportunity

Bolton Talent Solutions, in partnership with Bolton College, is building a talent pipeline of passionate and knowledgeable Uniformed Public Services Lecturers for anticipated teaching opportunities from September 2026.

Whilst teaching requirements are currently being finalised, we are keen to hear from individuals with experience in the Uniformed Public Services sector who are interested in inspiring the next generation of Police, Fire, Military, Prison and Emergency Service professionals.

This opportunity is ideal for experienced public service professionals looking to transition into teaching, as well as qualified lecturers seeking additional Further Education opportunities.

What You'll Be Teaching

Successful candidates may deliver across Level 1 to Level 3 programmes, covering topics such as:

  • Uniformed Public Services Careers and Employment
  • Leadership and Teamwork
  • Physical Fitness and Personal Development
  • Citizenship and Community Engagement
  • Emergency Planning and Response
  • Discipline and Professional Conduct
  • Outdoor and Practical Activities
  • Public Service Values and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons across Uniformed Public Services programmes
  • Support learners to achieve their qualifications and progression goals
  • Monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback
  • Create an inclusive, safe and positive learning environment
  • Implement creative and inspiring teaching and learning strategies
  • Build positive relationships with students, employers and other stakeholders
  • Undertake curriculum administration and associated college duties

Requirements

Essential

  • Relevant Uniformed Public Services qualification (minimum Level 3)
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent)
  • Experience working within a Uniformed Public Services environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Commitment to safeguarding and learner success

Desirable

  • PGCE, Cert Ed, Level 5 Teaching Qualification or equivalent
  • Experience teaching or training young people or adults
  • Experience delivering practical and theoretical learning activities
